So long.

Farewell.

I bid you adieu.

Okay, so it's just that I'm going back to school (starting today) and heaven only knows (boy ain't that the truth) when I'll be able to post again.

I promise to come for air (and a bit of FUN) every once in a while!!

Please be patient with me :).
Just a note - something I do intend to keep up is my newest blog. It's a creative writing blog called 65 WPM.

I'll be posting my own writing. I currently have a short story in progress, so be sure to go through the first few postings so you know what's going on in the story. Feel free to leave me comments!

I'll try to update that at least once a week.

Thanks!!

Ah so! I got through the orientation for SJSU without any painful instinct to run away (shades of Boston), so I suppose that means I'm doing the right thing this time! Yeeahhh!

I had the chance to carpool down with three other newbies - Alba, Amy and Jeff...we stuck together throughout the orientation and are now the "I-80" group, who knew you could grow attached that quickly and not want to meet anyone else...well considering that the only other person making intros was this odd little fellow named Mark who is apparently a community relations coordinator at B&N in Fresno and kept asking everyone "what section of 200 are you in?" as an opener. I think he and his probably 32 year old self finally settled down into an uncomfortable conversation with a 22 year old just out of college who plans to work retail while she gets her MLIS...uhm, it might just be me, but if I didn't have a job and was getting a degree in Library Science, I might try to apply for a job in an actual library, but that's just me!!

Oh well, I feel that I can handle my 3 classes while I work full time if Alba can handle two, work full time and take care of her husband and 2 year old son.

And finally, I called Detroit and continued a conversation from February 2004. My friend and I said we would talk every month...well, we've kept that up on e-mail but are now both determined to talk on the phone more regularly. Hopefully she'll settle down with her man in D.C. and I can get to visit both my wonderful friend and my mecca (LOC).

Have a great week, everybody!

p.s. congrats and get well to Miss I (if I haven't said it already)!! Go Bears...we stand tall even as we fall down Hearst - that street is WAAAY to steep...isn't that a safety hazard? Miss I would certainly say that it is - something must be done! Now that they're actually paying HER (instead of the other way around), perhaps she can change the university from the inside..ooohh, how subversive. Wicked awesome.

I'm not sure what's coming (well maybe I do), but it's been a weird couple of weeks.

Here's what's been happening in my neck of the woods:

1) Driving home on Friday, I saw a racoon, the sucker must have been a good 60 pounds, climbing out of the sewer. When it saw me, it turned around and went back into its dark little hole.

2) There are hawks flying all around my neighborhood. Beautiful, deadly birds.

3) Marley will not leave my side at night. He sleeps as close to me as he can, even when I'm rolling around trying to get comfie (he usually gets irritated and leaves).

4) Again, Friday, the cats and the dogs were acting crazy. It wasn't a full moon, but it was a strange day. Dogs barking and howling, cats running up and down the stairs. The cows in the hills were mooing up a storm (thank goodness we finally saw the cows, otherwise my whole family would have gone on thinking we were hearing ghost cows or something).

5) M's grandmother died (after being told she had 2 months to live about 4 years ago, it does seem sudden).

This is not all in chronological order, but it's all weird.

To Miss I - congrats and get well!!!!

I promised not to complain anymore, and it has been a hectic and sometimes difficult last couple of weeks, hence the silence.

Before I go any further, though, I have to say to my own Eminem that I am thinking of her and praying for her family. The loss of your grandmother must be so hard, but I know that she will watch over you from Heaven!!

Really, that's all I can say right now. I'll try again tomorrow.

I just found the perfect song to describe some of my emotions about the cost of living on the West Coast (AKA The Left Coast). Keb'Mo describes a family who wants to move to California but can only afford a house damaged by an earthquake! It's a semi-light hearted look at the matter.

If I can't get the song to load onto the blog, try visiting
Keb'Mo. The song is "House in California" off of the Keep It Simple Album. It says a lot about the housing situation in Cali, in a lighthearted way.

Enjoy this clip!

If 2004 taught me nothing else, it taught me the value of my own existence. By that I mean - I NEVER EVER EVER HAVE ANY REASON TO EVER EVER EVER COMPLAIN.

If you have any little bit that you might like to direct towards the victims of the Tsunami and earthquake (and no, I am not referring to the 7 celebrities the news insists on covering...) try Music for Relief.

Happy 2005! May it be blessed and peaceful.
